Parthenon Internships

The Parthenon is committed to equity and inclusion at all levels. This includes providing supervised internships that offer opportunities to future professionals in museum leadership. The Parthenon’s internship program is designed to introduce college students to the varied career paths offered within a museum environment, including education, collections management, and curatorial work.

Internships are offered to students currently enrolled in an academic institution during the school year, or recent graduates, with internship periods coinciding with the fall and spring semesters and summer break.

Preference is given to juniors and seniors majoring in art history, classics, education, fine arts, museum studies, public history, and/or related areas, and recent graduates with degrees in these fields.

Successful candidates for all programs must submit all application materials and complete a background check if selected.

Fall and spring internships offer academic credit, but are unpaid. The Wesley Paine Internship a paid summer program; interns will be paid $15 per hour on a bi-weekly basis.

External Funding for Parthenon Internships

The Parthenon is also a potential host institution for applicants interested in the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) Elizabeth Bartman Museum Internship, which is a scholarship established in honor of AIA Honorary President Elizabeth Bartman to assist advanced undergraduates, graduate students, or those who have recently completed a master’s degree with the expenses associated with participating in a museum internship. Please note this is an AIA award and is NOT affiliated with the Parthenon; see the AIA website for details.
