Academic Credit Internships

Are you a graduate or undergraduate student seeking an internship for academic credit?

The Parthenon offers fall and spring unpaid internships for academic credit to advance the educational goals of students and the overall mission of the museum. Internships are offered in the following areas:

Museum Education

Museum Collections Management

Curatorial Research

Archival & Library Work

Internships are available to current students as well as recent graduates who possess a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Internship periods are generally 8 weeks and coincide with spring and fall semesters, or summer break if preferred. Internship hours can be designed to accommodate the intern’s university schedule. 

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit the following to Director of Education Helen Sanders at helen.sanders@nashville.gov:

  1. A cover letter including desired semester, areas of internship, and academic interests

  2. A resume

  3. A completed internship application, including faculty advisor/sponsor information here (or green button below)

Deadlines for Academic Credit Internship Applications

Spring Semester 2024: November 1, 2023

Fall Semester 2024: July 1, 2024

Spring Semester 2025: November 1, 2024

A museum internship committee will review all application materials and inform all applicants whether they are selected for an interview or not. All selected interns will undergo a background check.
